What to Expect

WHAT TO EXPECT • PSYCHIATRIC EVALUATION

Your Psychiatric Evaluation

Your first visit is a comprehensive evaluation — an unhurried conversation to understand you fully before making any decisions about treatment. We'll explore your symptoms, medical and mental health history, current and past medications, and the lifestyle factors — such as sleep, stress, technology use, relationships, and daily demands — that shape how you feel.

Clarity & Diagnosis

Together, we'll work to understand what's actually going on — whether that's anxiety, depression, trouble focusing, disrupted sleep, mood swings, the lingering effects of a difficult experience, or a combination of factors. The goal is to arrive at a thoughtful, accurate diagnosis.

A Personalized Plan

From there, we'll build an individualized plan that may combine medication, supportive strategies, and lifestyle changes — tailored to your needs and goals.

Medication Management

Every recommendation is grounded in current, research-backed approaches, with medication used thoughtfully, based on your specific needs.

ADHD Evaluation

If ADHD is a concern, the evaluation may involve more than a single appointment or questionnaire. Because a comprehensive ADHD evaluation requires additional time to review your history, complete assessments, and explore how symptoms have affected you over time, it is scheduled separately from your initial psychiatric evaluation.

WHAT TO EXPECT •  FOLLOW-UP

Typical Follow-Up

Treatment is a journey, not a one-time appointment. Early on, we meet more often to find the right plan and, when appropriate, the right medication and dose for you. This takes time, close monitoring, and collaboration — so visits are more frequent at the start and space out as you stabilize.

In the beginning — especially when starting or adjusting medication — we meet more frequently to monitor how you're responding and make changes when needed. This phase can last several weeks to several months, depending on your response.

Building Stability

As your plan takes shape and symptoms begin to improve, visits space out while we continue to monitor progress and refine as needed.

Long-Term Maintenance

Once your symptoms are stable and well-managed, we shift to maintenance visits to sustain your progress and adjust as life changes.

Every plan is individualized — your follow-up schedule may vary based on your diagnosis, treatment plan, medication response, and personal needs.
